The recipe for the new WRX STi is to take the old one and improve it. You get the same 2.5-litre turbocharged boxer engine, and can expect 309PS and 393Nm of torque. No performance figures are available at this time, but expect it to be fast.
The styling is exactly what the WRX should be. A saloon- there's no hatchback in sight- with a gaping bonnet scoop and large rear wing. The 18-inch alloys are a nice design, and the four tailpipes hint at what this car is capable of.
Subaru have also promised an improvement in interior quality, which will be a welcome change from the previous model. It was nice enough, because you never really got chance to stop and think about it. Now though, the WRX should have another few boxes ticked when it comes to comparisons with rivals.
And the best bit yet is that the new model will be £4,000 cheaper than the previous model. Prices are set to be £28,995 which will include all the kit you'll want, so represents excellent value for money as far as I'm concerned. There is a special section on Subaru's website for the WRX STi, so make sure you check that out. And although it isn't quite here yet, let me be the first to say "welcome back!"
