JLR Experience - Jaguar F-Type V6S

Now there's no need to say anything at all about the Jaguar F-Type. The pictures do more than enough justice to how brilliant it is. But I feel I probably should say a few words about it, because no car has ever had the effect on me that this one has. And to start with we jumped in the V6S. The sun was out, so we put the roof down and hit the open road...

The V6S gets the 3.0-litre, supercharged V6 engine with 380PS and 460Nm, which means it will howl its way from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 171mph. And what a howl it is. Climb higher up the revs and then hear the F-Type bark as you pull the up-shift paddle with your right hand. It's addictive performance, and taking the roof off just makes the noise even better.

And then you'll discover the button with a picture of an exhaust pipe on it. This makes the noise louder, and once you discover this you'll never turn it off. Ever. To drive the F-Type is a dream. The ride is a little hard, but this is a sports car after all. It's comfortable, cruises well in full auto mode, and will even achieve 31mpg on a combined cycle. Not too bad at all.

Be wary of the options list though, because you can soon leave the £67,250 basic price far behind as you climb upwards. And really none of the options are necessary. The F-Type already looks perfect, sounds perfect, and at this base price the V6S represents rather good value.

I will certainly never forget the feeling the F-Type gave me. So much so that I'm worried it's going to become a craving that I will have to satisfy by owning one. Although I can't see that happening any time soon. Unless anyone wants to treat me? Anyone?
