NEWS - WRC 2012 Round 7

I offer my many apologies for the delay in bringing you the latest from the WRC season. Whilst I was away the 7th round took place in the shape of Rally New Zealand. Since I was out of the country I never even got to watch the coverage, and so my round-up will be woefully brief.

The more eagle-eyed of you will have noticed that there is a new logo heading this post. This is due to Nokia no longer sponsoring the WRC. Oh well. Onwards, and the championship continues.

In a result we have become used to over the years, Sebastien Loeb came out on top. On top of the 25 points he also came 3rd in the power stage earning him an extra point. This helped to extend his lead in the championship and bringing him a step closer to his 9th consecutive title.

Mikko Hirvonen came in 2nd which was a great result for the Citroen team and giving them good points for the Manufacturers Championship.

3rd Place went to Petter Solberg and he also managed 2nd place in the power stage earning him a respectable 17 points, which were much needed by the Ford team.

Jari-Matti Latvala had some problems (surprising isn't it?) and his 2012 season of bad luck is all but over. He has now set his sights on taking as many points from Citroen as possible, and helping teammate Solberg in any way possible.

Ken Block found himself in the top 10 which is a good result considering his inexperience in the WRC.

The next round of the WRC is Rally Finland, which will be the 2nd-4th August. I promise much more informative coverage, and will leave you with the championship tables for now!
