NEWS - On your marks; Mini 2012 Edition backs Team GB

Mini, the official partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB, is set to release limited edition models to celebrate London hosting the 2012 Olympic Games. With a limited run of, you guessed it, 2012 models, buyers will be able to choose from various trim levels; Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S and Cooper SD.

Union-Jack-themed colours are available for choice; Chilli Red, White Silver and Lightning Blue. All models have white wing mirrors and a special roof graphic of the London 2012 logo. Also on the exterior is a Union Jack stripe from front to back, and grey 17" alloys which aren't available on any other Mini model.

There are some very nice features on the inside too. On the seats there is a London 2012 logo stitched into the front seats, white piping and blue and red stitching on the seat facings and Union Jack piping for the headrests. Most notable however is the London skyline, which is featured right across the piano-black dashboard. Along with the edition number, iconic landmarks such as Tower Bridge, Battersea Power Station and the London Eye can be seen.

All London special editions come with a host of extra features to help them stand out. These include Lounge Leather sports seats, DAB radio, air conditioning, cruise control, chrome interior touches and MINIMALISM technology. This includes super-efficient engines, start/stop technology, gear shift indication and brake energy regeneration. All of this technology helps the Cooper D achieve a CO2 figure of  99 g/km, leaving it exempt from the London congestion charge and benefiting from free road tax.

If you are interested in owninh one, the 2012 special editions are available for pre-sale now, and are due to hit the showrooms in March 2012. Prices (on the road) are:
