NEWS - NISMO could be the answer if the Nissan Juke-R is just too much to handle...

As you are aware, the Nissan Juke-R is in development and the progress can be followed right here at Motor Mouth. However, if you are thinking that the Juke-R might be just a little too extreme (and you could be forgiven for doing so!) then there may be asuitable alternative. NISMO is Nissan's in-house motorsport division (NISsan MOtorsport), and they have created the Nissan Juke NISMO concept.

The NISMO Juke is lower and wider than the standard model, and this gives is a road-hugging sporty stance. Finished in the signature NISMO colours; pearl white with red detailing and wearing a full body kit, the Juke looks sporty albeit in a more subtle way then the Juke-R. The body kit does have aerodynamic usefulness too, as does the improved spoiler and door mirrors.

These features achieve more lift without increasing drag, and help to give the 19" wheels improved grip. Power to those wheels will come from a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, with power output yet to be disclosed. The suspension is lower and stiffer; just one of the many advantages of having the parts catalogue available at NISMO.

There are also NISMO touches on the inside, with redesigned controls, bucket seats and red-needled dials. The sporty ambience is also aided by darker surfaced and a metallic centre console.

"The global sales success of Nissan Juke has proved beyond doubt that customers are looking for something different," said Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. "The Juke NISMO Concept takes that idea to the next level. It's energetic, distinctive and highly desirable."

"As the Concept shows, Nismo brings new levels of individuality to mainstream Nissan cars like Juke. The future for Nismo is to develop premium sports designs for an ever-widening range of customers," said Nismo President, Shoichi Miyatani. "Our forthcoming range of cars will be just as accessible and innovative as every Nissan product, but with added Nismo energy they will be even more fun to own and drive."
